Based on the original recommendations of the cedar tub builder we used chlorine bleach, but then found out that chlorine degrades the wood and causes leaking. Unfortunately we discovered this too late.
So now we use the recommended amount of sodium bromide and Renew. It keeps the tub clean for much longer and doesn't have that chemical smell.
